MY MOTHER'S PRAYER
Dedicated to my Brother, John
I often reminisce, think back when I was young
I still can hear my mother pray. (I hear her pray)
Though sometimes she would cry, I never quite knew why
Until I was older, and understood the words she would say, as she would pray
Dear Lord,
I praise your Holy, Holy Name, And I thank you for the blessings,
That You've given to me. (to me) And Lord if it be Your will,
let me raise my children 'til they're grown,
With children of their very own, that they may know You, Oh Lord.
May the circle be unbroken.
Our family circle be unbroken, in heaven forever.
Amen
My Jesus did, He answered my mother's prayer
He gave her many precious years, my mother, she was always there
For me, to care for and love me tenderly
As she would teach me about Jesus, and the Heavenlies
Somehow, the years, they have a way … of slipping by
I am grown, with children of my own, and I … I realize
That my mother's prayer, was for me, she was praying for me
Just as I now pray, for my children and my family
(Repeat Prayer)
Now when I pray, and the tears, they roll down my face
I will trust … trust in the Lord, that He … He will embrace
Embrace my children, and my mother's prayer
Will become their prayer, for their children
And for the children, the children everywhere... everywhere
May the circle be unbroken
Our family circle be unbroken, in heaven forever
Amen
(Acts 16:31)
